The data quality of Vertical EloctntaJ Sounding generally depends on (he topography, orientation of the line, pound contact of electrodes and instrumental error. The AQo-Dcdesa dam nte is generally characterized by rugged ternm and ground contact of electrodes was poor, which ls assumed to affect the quality of lhe data. 4.Data interpretation The interpreted VES results are presented in the farm of lections (Figurr-410 Figure 8j and also summarized as shown in Tables |Table 2-Table 7). Lithological descriptions of lhe resistivity layers are lakm from borehole records in the vicinity of lhe VES points. Spillway Subsurface information for the spillway area was obtained from two VES observations. Conclusion and recommendation f correlation with the neighboring borehole logs. From the two VES observations conducted al the spillway the overburden thickness 13 estimated to be 12m - 17m. The bedrock is assumed to comprise highly weathered mJ fractured trachy basah. The over burden at the dam site is very thin (about 2m thick). The bedrock is also marked by very high resistivity that is in thousands of Ohm-meters indicating that the bedrock of the dam site area is slightly weathered and fractured or the fractures arc filled with high resistivity minerals such as silica. The results obtained from VES-4 and VES-IG suggest that the resistivity of the bedrock al Lhe dam site decreases towards the nver (in the vicinity of the flood plain). The saddle dam is generally marked by low resistivity (16-44 Ohm-in J, 40-80m thick formation This formation is considered as self formation and the relatively hard iarmalion which assumed as a bedrock at saddle dam area seems deeper taboul 4Qm deep at Lhr south eastern pan and about 80m tn the north Western part j. The interpreted VES results do not show the presence of structures such as faults and shear zones.
