The Melka Sadi-Amibara Irrigation Project is a major agricultural development initiative in Ethiopia's Awash Valley, designed to irrigate approximately 17,770 hectares of land. The project includes diversion weirs, main canals, drainage networks, flood protection dykes, and settlement villages.
The project is planned to be implemented over 4-6 years, with cultivation beginning in some areas within 30 months of construction start. The Settlement Scheme would require about 15 years to become fully autonomous.
